Astarte's Wrath

Astarte's Wrath - Trisha Wolfe Do you guys have any idea how much I loved this story? OMG so much! I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I started Astarte’s Wrath by Trisha Wolfe. I knew that I’ve loved all that she has written so far, and fell in love with Destiny’s Fire. But Astarte’s Wrath is, by far, theeeeeeeeeee best book that Trisha Wolfe has written thus far!It had everything that I love in a good read. Romance, deception, action, fantastic characters, and a world that I loved getting completely engrossed in.To be able to become absorbed into a world where Cleopatra still ruled? Ack! Whether the facts in the story are true, I don’t care. Everything second of this book held my attention, and the ending portion of the book had me gasping out loud, and crying out “no”! I felt so emotionally invested in the characters and the storyline that there were parts that completely shocked me. Oh Trish, how I love you’re writing!Astarte and Xion have been friends for as long as they can remember. But as they get older, the friendship that they once had is taking a turn down the path that is dangerous for the both of them. You see, Xion (aka Pharaoh Caesarion aka Cleopatra’s first born son!!) is training to be a king, and Astarte has been appointed as his personal guardian. You see, Astarte was born to be what she is…to be a protector to the pharaohs. They are bound by duty to serve them (a slave), regardless of who the pharaoh is. It’s why she was created…it’s why all Kythan Guardians (a race of shape shifters who were created with magic and who can transform into their true form) were created. And carefree childhood friendship that they once shard seems to be developing into something more. But for them to be together would mean sure death for Astarte and would completely ruin Xion’s reputation amongst his people.Add to that a conspiracy where Xion’s late father’s enemy has his eyes set on Xion’s death so that he can rule Alexandria, Astarte is on full alert. With a new species of her kind showing themselves, known as The Leymak, with magic that can counter act the Kythan’s magic and who has magic stronger and more powerful than their own, Astarte needs to figure out how she can ensure Xion and his family’s safety. The story of Star (aka Astarte) and Xion is one that I truly adored. The interaction between these two were always ones that I looked forward to. One part in particular had me smirking and swooning all over the place. It takes part during a celebration, and Xion wants to go and enjoy himself like everyone else…incongnito of course. And when he and Xion are dancing together… phew! Shmexy, shmexy! And then the water scene! I fell so hard for Xion…with his cocky smirks and his sweet ways and words. And how amazing is Star as a character? So strong and so loyal. Always thinking of other first and so devoted to who she is to protect. And when she gets into fight mode?? Look out! She is one shape shifting chick that you don’t want to piss off.Not only were the main characters amazing, the other characters that make up the rest of the story were equally enjoyable. Let’s take one of Star’s best friend and fellow guardian, Phoenix. A different breed of guardian, I found him to be quite funny and equally hot. Never mind that he was a womanizer, Phoenix has a huge heart.I admit that this book had me on edge during many different parts of the book, and it did indeed make me gasp out loud. I read Astarte’s Wrath by Trisha Wolfe in one sitting, and was so sad when the book came to an end! I wasn’t ready for it to be over, and was hoping beyond hope for more.I recommend this book to fans of reads involving Egyptian tales in the time of Cleopatra, fans of shape shifters, and for those who want to get completely lost in a story of love. New Adult fans everywhere will completely devour this tragic love story. I need more! Give us more! Seriously, this book was amazing. You won’t be disappointed!
