I don’t know what to say…I am blown away. This is me, literally, blown away! Cassandra Claire has graced us with yet another unforgettable read with Clockwork Prince. Everything about it called to me! The title, the cover, the author, the …everything! From the very first word, to the very last sentence, Clockwork Prince, the new installment in The Infernal Devices series, left me dying and crying for more! As soon as I started reading, it was not difficult at all to get sucked back into this world of demons and shadowhunters. Cassandra Claire is such a fantastic and addictive writer that knows exactly what her readers want to see and delivers it with unbelievable power. Her ability to describe this world and time and place is incredible. I felt as though I was stepping right into the pages of the story, completely absorbed with my surroundings and totally fascinated with all the characters. Apart from the extraordinary storyline, one of the things I was most excited about was being re-acquainted with the loveable characters, especially Will and Jem. Ohhhh how I’ve missed Will. Just like all her other books, from The Infernal Devices to The Mortal Instruments, her character interaction is top notch. I had a perma-grin plastered on my face the entire time I was reading this book…no joke! And I found myself reading on, waiting for another one of Will’s witty come backs, or his oh so memorable one-liners. I had a difficult time deciding whose team I was on… Team Will – the cocky bad boy who only wants someone to love, and have them love him or Team Jem – The endless romantic who, against all odds, wants someone to love even if it’s for a short time, until death finds him. I would be all for Jem, but then Will would come out and say something quirky and make me smile, or do something heroically stupid and I would smile even wider and would only have eyes for him…until sweet Jem comes out and…arghhh so deliciously confusing! This particular book, I found, to be even more addictive than the rest of them. So much action, unrequited love, heartbreak, romance, and humour. Claire’s crafty plot twists and turns will leave your head spinning and your heart craving for more. We see more of the “human” side of all the characters in this installment. We see how the they come to find their true selves and how they deal with the shocking truths that they find out. Once you think that you have figured out where this all will lead, you are lead onto another thrilling tangent into another world of possibilities. I recommend this book to fans of The Mortal Instruments series and/or The Infernal Devices series and for anyone who wants to get lost in a world of adventure and love. Chapter by Chapter
