A mostly Young Adult book review blog run by a mother and daughter team.
I have been dying since reading Dare You To by Katie McGarry, to read Crash Into You. DYING! Isaiah is one character in this series that I have been totally and completely intrigued by. His intenseness, his bad boy persona…his everything! So to have the chance to read his story is one that I absolutely did not want to pass up on.
Isaiah’s life hasn’t been easy. With a mother in prison, no father, and being shuffled in the system, Isaiah has had to pretty much fend for himself, and learn the ways of the surviving on the streets. His reputation of the tattooed, angsty bad boy is one that has helped him endure.
But after learning that he must get his hands on some money ASAP, Isaiah decides to go street racing. But will making a deal with the devil be worth losing everything he’s worked hard for towards a future he so desperately wants? Low and behold, an angel (aka Rachel Young) shows up at the same race strip, and Isaiah is at a loss for words.
Rachel is a rich girl who has literally wandered over to the wrong side of the tracks. Knowing that she is the “replacement” daughter/sister for Colleen (a sister who died before she was born), Rachel has a lot of weight to bare on her shoulders. To deal with the loss of their daughter, Rachel’s mother organizes a yearly charitable event to raise money for Leukemia. But with this event, Rachel is expected to speak and talk about a sister she’s never met, and doesn’t know… save for the information given by her family. Unfortunately for Rachel, she suffers from panic attacks which has caused her to go to the hospital in the past.
Thinking that no one really cares about what she thinks or feels, Rachel escapes by driving fast. And a chance to race and see just how fast she can go is an opportunity she doesn’t want to pass up. But an unfortunate turn of events puts her in the spotlight, and is now given her AND an unexpected ally (Isaiah) an ultimatum. Get him his money, or people will get hurt.
Now it’s a race against time, and the minutes are literally ticking by. Will they make the deadline and what are they going to do about this spark that has ignited between them? Star-crossed lovers scenario? I think, yes!
Katie McGarry does it again with Crash Into You. Amazing writing, unforgettable storyline, and characters that you will hold in your heart forever. I don’t think there was anything in this story that I didn’t love. The rush of the race, to be able to witness something that turns into something beautiful, to have your emotions go from highs to lows in an instant. OMG it had it all!
I will have you know that I am seriously addicted to Isaiah. It was his bad boy edge that had me curious, but it was the background story and watching his softer side come out that had me hooked. I loved just how intense he is about life, his friends, his car…everything! His loyalty and his protectiveness are attributes of his that I adore, and I loved that we got to see it here.
The character of Rachel is one that I really enjoyed too! She broke my heart over and over again, and regardless of how she feels, she continues torturing herself to please her family. I wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up and take care of herself! I can’t even begin to imagine just how terrible she must feel to believe that she was a replacement for the perfect daughter/sister that died all those years ago. To have to talk about a sister she never knew and have people look at her, but think of Colleen. OMG broke my heart!
And with a twist at the end literally made Crash Into You unputdownable, this is one read that is so addictive you won’t be able to stop.
I recommend this read to fans of the first two (2) books in this series and fans of Katie McGarry in general. If you’re looking for a contemporary read that will blow your socks off, this is the one for you. You will not regret it, that I can guarantee.
