A mostly Young Adult book review blog run by a mother and daughter team.
Entice was amazing! It was just as good as Embrace, and was everything I had hoped it would be. Author, Jessica Shirvington, pulled out all stops in this second installment, and gave fans exactly what they were looking for.Entice continues from where Embrace leaves off, with a stronger and even more bad-ass Violet. Although, this time I found she was crying, like, all the time… With the re-appearance of onyx, Violet finds out that a big bad is on its way, and it affects those that she loves most…especially Lincoln.Oh Lincoln…sweet, even more loveable this time round Lincoln. I fell so in love with in Entice. I didn’t even hat to question who I crushed on the most. Although Phoenix does appear in the book, he was a little lacking this time. We catch snippets of his loveable one liners, his sexy bad boy attitude, and we again see the affect he has on poor Violet…even when she’s not expecting it. And let me tell you guys this…the heat totally turns up for our ill-fated couple. *whistle* There were quite a few swoon worthy moments that had me grinning from ear to ear. What was really amazing in Entice was the new cast of characters that we are introduced too! As Steph (who is still theeeeee most awesomest best friend ever FYI), the God Squad. Straight from the Academy, Rudyard’s and Nyla, Zoe, Salvatore, and Spence have travelled to lend their kick ass abilities for the greater good. If you loved the characters in Embrace, you are totally gonna love these new additions to the Scooby gang. All were able to stand their ground amongst the veteran cast, and loving every minute of them. If you don’t think that Spence is totally awesome, well then, there is no pleasing you. (j/k!) Spence, seriously, is full of awesomesauce. He really stole the show this time. One my favorite characters in Entice, hands down.We also see a more “human” side to Onyx, although his hate for Violet is still pretty evident. But Violet being the most awesome and caring individual that she is, decides to provide with some much needed TLC. We are also treated to the bitch we all know and love, Magda. And oh what a web she weaves in Entice! You have got to read it to believe it, but let me tell you that when all was said and done, I was ready to yank her through the pages and kick her butt! Now, not only do we have the newbies to look forward to, but the big bad baddies that come into play are pretty hardcore too! Not only is Phoenix out for blood…literally…but Lincoln, Violet and the gang are on the hunt for Nahilius, who is pretty much a man/exile for hire, and is in some way connected to the death of Lincoln’s mother. AND we are also introduced to the mother of all exiles. An ancient exile who turns out to be… tsk tsk, you didn’t think it’d be that easy do you! Read the book, and experience the shock factor that is THIS.There are, of course, many laugh out loud moments which I thoroughly enjoyed. One that gave me a good chuckle was when both Rudyard and Nyla give Violet and Lincoln the sex talk. I adored all the inside thoughts/conversations that Violet has with herself, and the one that line that she says during this scene cracked me up! I dunno why…but it just did. Another part that had me in stitches was when they were exiting a taxi, where clearly the cab driver’s hygiene was seriously lacking. I could picture that moment perfectly in my head.Entice felt like two stories in one where, like in any well written good book, comes back full circle, and also reveals another twist that will keep your head reeling. The ending had me gaping at the page, and crying out for the next installment NOW! My only complaint, as was the same one in the last book, was the lack of parentage. Conveniently, during Violet’s many escapades, her father is away, and none the wiser. *hums Austin Powers’ “Daddy Wasn’t There”*Entice was thoroughly enjoyable, and am so anxiously awaiting the next installment. Fans of the Hush, Hush series and Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series will fall head over heels for this series. If you’re shopping around for a new book boyfriend…look no further! Lincoln will be waiting…
